It looks like what people judge as a premium design nowadays is based on what the few popular brands are offering and now that Apple and Samsung are offering the glass and metal kind of design, smartphones that do not come with that kind of design are deemed non-premium looking.
You would think that people will focus on the specs and not the design but that is not true because that was what happen when Microsoft brought out the Microsoft Lumia 950. The device did not look bad but many consumers had commented that the removable cover design and all made it looked cheap.
Luckily, the Microsoft Lumia 650 had a little more to offer in terms of design. The device comes in with the more conventional premium looking design despite coming in as a mid-level smartphone. Although we do not think that that will be enough to convince people to try out a Windows 10 powered device, at least, it won’t be called ugly.
