Mazda 3 Review: Is It Worth It?

Is the Mazda 3 actually worth the high price? There are loads of cars in the same price bracket as the Mazda 3, with some offering better specs, which is proving to be something of a turn-off to potential punters.

If, however, you think about it, the SkyActiv tech that Mazda has put into this car makes the price a bit more reasonable. Sadly, though, buyers can easily overlook this when the see the price. You need to drive the vehicle for a while to really see and feel the benefits – smoother driving capabilities and enhanced responses to instructions.

Once you’ve appreciated the smooth driving, though, you might notice some downsides – the car’s not that comfortable and it’s also noisy, which takes away from the handling a bit. Also, in order to maintain fuel efficiency, Mazda has altered the power of the car – it’s still powerful, but you can feel a difference compared to other cars in its class.

You’re also paying for an automatic headlamp and wiper function that just isn’t really necessary.

The Mazda 3’s biggest competitors are the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda Civic, which are cheaper and offer brilliant C-segment specs.

So, anyone fancying parting with RM138,935, the SkyActive tech might be worth it, but don’t forget that you’re getting the enhanced driving experience at a cost that isn’t monetary…
