The latest HTC One M8 is undeniably a powerful smartphone. However, consumers who wish to get a new smartphone are not convinced enough, claiming that the M8 is merely an upgrade from the past. As such, we have compared it with the Nexus 5 to see how powerful the One M8 is.
In terms of looks both the One M8 and the Google Nexus 5 are beautiful machines. In spite of that, the One M8 looks so much better thanks to its metal finish. If there is a Miss Universe event for smartphones, the One M8 will surely come out as the winner.
Both the One M8 and the Nexus 5 comes with a large screen which gives a satisfying user experience. The former 5” Super LCD 3 display produces 1080p resolution at 445PPI whereas the latter has a 4.95” True HD IPS that produces the same resolution and PPI. However, brightness and contrast on the Nexus 5 are second best to the One M8.
Under the hood, HTC equipped the One M8 with the latest Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz. This is accompanied by 2GB RAM and the Adreno 330 GPU. The Nexus 5 on the other hand runs on proven Snapdragon 800. Of course, the newer processor is much faster but both are still able to run all the heavy task thrown at them.
When it comes to camera, there is no competing with the 4MP Ultrapixel dual-camera on the One M8. Despite its small pixel count, the rear shooter is able to capture images at the highest quality. This is unlike the Nexus 5 8MP rear camera, which has been really poor and basic.
All in all, the HTC One M8 is obviously the better device. However, it is sold for a hefty fee. The Nexus 5 is built with value in mind and it is amazing how Google has managed to keep the price of the smartphone at its minimum. As such, it is down, to the consumer’s budget. Splurging on the HTC One M8 won’t be a mistake at all.
