The Google Nexus 5, developed by LG, created history in the smartphone industry by being the first device to run on the Android 4.4 KitKat. Now, the same can be said for the all-new Nexus 6 that debuts with the Android 5.0 Lollipop.
While the Nexus 5 is also treated to the latest Android OS, users can skip the official update and get the ParanoidAndroid firmware instead. The team of independent developers have just created the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 6 and it is currently available for the Nexus 5 only.
Of course, this isn’t the final version of the Android 4.6. Despite that fact, the developer revealed that it isn’t far away from being finalized. Once it is final, the team will commence the production of the Paranoid Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The installation is a rather simple one. Nexus 5 users can download the firmware on the internet and transfer it to the device’s internal storage. Then they will need to flash the ROM zip file via a custom recovery. In addition to that, the Google Apps package too needs to be flashed.
In other words, the method is similar to that of AOSP and Cyanogenmod. Do make sure that the Nexus 5 comes with a bootloader as that is required to complete the installation.
