There was a lot of confusion inside LG’s headquarters as the company found it hard to decide between the G3 or the G Pro 2 as their flagship device for this year. Well, the decision has already been made and it is the G3 smartphone. To understand the dilemma LG faced, we have decided to compare the G3 and the G Pro 2.
Putting both devices side-by-side, we noticed that the G Pro 2 is larger in size. This is due to its 5.9” screen that offers 373ppi. For its size, the pixel count is something really impressive but it is no match for the 538ppi produced on the G3’s 5.5” screen.
The G Pro 2 might also come with a larger 3200mAh battery but its larger screen size confirms that it couldn’t last as long as the G3. This is despite of the fact that the latter is packed with a smaller 3000mAh battery.
Under the hood, the G3 sprints past the G Pro 2 as it is powered by the newer, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The G Pro 2 runs on the slightly older 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with 3GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU.
Camera-wise, both devices are equipped with a 13MP rear and 2.1MP front shooter. However, the ones on the G3 are better tuned as it is able to record videos at 4K resolution. The G Pro 2 can only record videos at 1080p.
With that being said, we finally understood why LG faced a dilemma in the first place. The G Pro 2 and the G3 are so alike. However, the latter arrived later which ensured it gets the best hardwares at that particular moment.
