LG G2 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update: Overwriting The Faulty Firmware

LG has already rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the G2 but it did more bad than good to the device. In detail, the Lollipop update brought along many bugs and broken features.

Now, there is a way for G2 users to remove the faulty firmware and replace it with a fully functional Lollipop OS. It is through installing the custom ROM that was developed by Rashed97.

The developer from XDA launched the custom ROM last month and it contains the Android 5.0 Lollipop designed for the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 models.

The Lollipop in the custom ROM is free of issues and it is also easy to install on the G2. All users have to do is download the custom ROM at XDA before checking out the following steps.

Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.

Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
