After months of leaks, LG Korea has finally decided to launch the G Flex. Now we know this smartphone from the numerous leaks showcasing a curved display much like that on the Samsung Galaxy Round. However what we don’t know was its special back coating.
LG says that the LG G Flex features self-healing technology much like that of Wolverine from the X-Men. The Korean giant says that the back cover of the smartphone features a special film which ‘heals’ scratches almost instantaneously once when they appear.
Now this is something we have to of course see for ourselves as we haven’t heard of such technology being used on smartphones much less consumer electronics.
The LG G Flex is a good few months away from US release so here’s hoping a demo of this technology is showcased in its homeland and put on YouTube when it launches in South Korea later this year.
Wouldn’t it have been awesome if the same tech was used on the LG Nexus 5? Given that this feature stayed under the radar until the announcement of the G Flex, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Google Nexus 5 has it as well. After all, the Nexus 5 is supposedly based on it just like the LG Optimus G and LG Nexus 4 were almost identical.
We’ll keep you posted as more develops.
