After being Valve’s tool of creation for so long, Turtle Rock has finally broke up with its father company and became the latest independent game developer. The production studio is well known for creating the highly successful Left 4 Dead back in 2008.
With Turtle Rock no longer attached to anything, fans of the zombie-survival game are wondering on what the fate of Left 4 Dead 3 will be.
It seems that L4D3 won’t be making an entry any time soon. Turtle Rock’s Phil Robb made recent announcement revealed that the game developer is looking to create a brand new IP, Evolve. This upcoming game is much like L4D where players have to work together to overcome and accomplish all the challenges as well as objectives.
As a matter of fact, Phil claims that Evolve was the first gaming idea from Turtle Rock but it failed to blossom further due to restrictions with Valve. Since the breakup with Valve, Turtle Rock would love to see Evolve materialize.
Phil also touches on the L4D franchise claiming that it is all done with the series and Turtle Rock is more interested in doing something new. This is really disappointing for the fans. It seems that Turtle Rock is infected with Valve disease of not making games a trilogy.
On another note, Phil never once denied Left 4 Dead 3. It might be developed after all. Of course, that will happen once Turtle Rock is settled with Evolve.
