There’s been no official statement about Left 4 Dead 3 and Half Life 3, but Valve fans reckon the company will be releasing one of these titles before long. We just don’t know which one.
A recent leak from the studio’s internal database is a good source of info. Take the mailing list, for example. Valve has around 300 staff members, with 42 of them getting updates related to Half Life 3 – these 42 are designers and developers.
42 out of 300-odd is quite a large proportion, larger than the proportion of people working on Left 4 Dead 3, so we’re leaning towards Half Life 3. The new Source engine is also nearly finished, and it’s thought that Half Life 3 is an ideal launch title.
However, knowing Valve, Half Life 3 is unlikely – Left 4 Dead is a more realistic prospect. Valve would want to give Half Life 3 a better launch, when the Source engine is up and running smoothly.
