The last time Kia tried to offer a full-size SUV in the US, they failed. The Kia Borrego was at that time the full-size SUV contender for Kia but poor sales and the popularity of the Kia Sorento had led to Kia taking out the Borrego.
While the Kia Borrego did not make it, Kia seems to think that there is still some space for an SUV in the US and because of that, they are working to bring in a new SUV into the US.
According to Kia’s Michael Sprague, having a full-size SUV is a great idea. The last full-size SUV we saw from Kia was the Telluride concept. While he did not say that the concept will end up being a production model, it does seem like Kia might be working on one and we would not be surprised if the Telluride concept becomes the base for the production model.
Kia also teased that they might be releasing a rear wheel drive model next year.
