If you are amongst the people who have been to the annual Woodward Dream Cruise then you will be aware that the rolling car show has various different meanings to it to a lot of people. It gives people the opportunity to have a look at rare vehicles which you’ve not been able to see yet, allows people to venture out in their Corvette and provides friends with the chance to enjoy a weekend of drinking and enjoying what the festivities has to offer.
For our roving editor Brandon Turkus however, the event this year allowed him to have a drive in a number of concept Jeeps that the majority of people have not been able to lay their eyes on, and certainly not been ale to drive yet. Woodward is not the same as Moab, as Turkus remarks right from the beginning. However being able to drive the off-road vehicles is still a good learning experience as the Jeeps show us a number of things which we hope the brand will provide us with in the future, even if they aren’t upcoming vehicles.
Here is a summary of the vehicles which Turkus was able to drive around in.
Jeep Wrangler Africa
This vehicle is powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine, has been painted in Desert Tan and is a version of the Wrangler Unlimited. Iit comes with a two-inch lift kit, Fox shocks and Dana 44 axles and has 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires covering its 17-inch , body-colored steel wheels. The vehicle also includes power step rock rails, an extended rear body and high-top roof, power dome vented hood and a front winch.
Jeep Chief Concept
This tribute to the 1970’s classic, fullsize Jeep Cherokee is a great Wrangler-based concept. The vehicle has been decorated in a vintage Ocean Blue colored paint and comes with a white roof. It has chrome bumpers, classic 17-inch wheels, removable sides and a custom razor grille (similar to the popular one seen on the original Wagoneer).
On the inside of the vehicle there is blue, pink and white cloth togetehr with leather trim which gives the motor somewhat of a surfer appearance. The vehicle has plenty of exciting features such as a tiki0look shift handle and a Rosewood fromt passenger grab handle. The vehicle has obviously got to be able to drive off-road as well so it comes kitted with Dana 44 axles at the front and the rear, Fox shocks, a two-inch lift kit and under the hood there is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6.
Jeep Wrangler Staff Car Concept
This vehicle has been based on the four-door Wrangler and is an open-air concept with plenty of heritage design and is a salute to the Jeep miliary service cars of yore.
The appearance of the vehicle may be old, however we promise you that it is completely new. It has been painted an iconic Sandstorm color, comes with bench seats, a stretched canvas roof, basic steel wheels and a built-in cooler with room for 85 cans.
Thanks to the Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit, Dana 44 axles, Fox Shocks and the Wrangler’s 3.6-liter V6 – even when things get a bit tricky, the Staff Car is able to handle the situation with plenty of confidence.
