Apple will be releasing the iOS 8 in a week from now and this further confirms that there won’t be a jailbreak for the iOS 7.1.2. Furthermore, once iOS 8 gets released, it will take some time before the hackers can jailbreak it.
Those that are desperate for Cydia apps shouldn’t be disappointed by this as there is still one way for them to jailbreak their iOS and it is through iOS 7. Some of our readers shared with us that they are able to downgrade from the iOS 7.1.2 to the old iOS 7.0.4.
We were informed that the process was mostly done on a 64GB iPhone 5S from Verizon with iTunes 11.2.2(3) and OSX 10.9.2. Nevertheless, there is no harm in trying it with other iPhone variants.
When ready, plug in the iPhone to a computer and run iTunes. The latter will then pull out the description of the connected iPhone with one portion saying that it is running on the latest iOS. In that same area, there is a link which states restore backup. Click on it and a list of past iOS will populate the screen.
Now, select the iOS 7.0.4 and commence the process. Upon completion, the iPhone will be restored to the past iOS although there are some files being jumbled here and there. To sort this out, users can install the iPhone Backup Extractor app. Also, users have to re-do the entire jailbreak process.
