Apple launched the iPhone 6 in two different flavours this time around, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. But if you are considering going for one, which should you choose?
One of the biggest differences between them is the size of course and this is going to play a huge part in your choice. Price is another consideration as the iPhone 6 Plus has a steeper price tag than the iPhone 6. So what else should you consider?
The iPhone 6 is designed in aluminium and is offered in gold and silver and it is 129g in weight and 6.8mm in thickness. The iPhone 6 Plus is also aluminium and offered in the same colours but it is 172g and 7.1mm thick.
Both handsets look to be almost identical but the iPhone 6 Plus is 2mm thicker, 1cm wider and 2cm taller than the iPhone 6 and while you might not think this is such a big difference you might want to get them both in your hand before choosing. Using the Plus with one hand can cause issues if you have small hands.
Both the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6 are great looking and they offer tough glass and it seems to blend into the aluminium without a seam. The bodies of the handsets are cool to the touch and there is enough grip to make sure you don’t drop it. Of course as the iPhone 6 Plus is bigger than the iPhone 6 the latter is the easiest to use and handle.
The iPhone 6 offers a retina display that is HD LCD and this is 4.7 inches and 1334 x 750. The iPhone 6 Plus has a display of LCD at 5.5 inches and this is 1920 x 1080p. The larger display is great for reading and surfing and it is full HD. The display is a bit sharper on the iPhone 6 Plus, however it’s not that noticeable unless you bring the display up really close.
The camera on the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus is virtually the same as 8MP with a 1/3.06 sensor and it comes with true tone flash and aperture of f/2.2 with dual LED flash. On the iPhone 6 Plus there is also OIS. Both phones offer a camera on the front for taking selfies.
Both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus run on iOS 8 and share the same A8 64 bit and M8 co-processor so they are fast. They are both offered in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions with the cheapest being $649 for the iPhone 6 and $749 for the iPhone 6 Plus.
When it comes down to it both of the devices are superb and really the choice is going to be down to the size of the display and the cost of the handset.
