iPhone 4S Gets A Fever After iOS 7, Cure Yet To Be Found

When Apple announced that iOS 7 would be available for the iPhone 4S, 4S owners couldn’t be happier. But now, there have been reports that iOS 7 has physically affected the Apple iPhone 4S.

Support forums have been crowded by iPhone 4S owners who are claiming that their iPhone 4S Wi-Fi could not be used after the button on the iPhone 4S turned grey. It seems like the problem is caused by prolonged use of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Prolonged usage of Wi-Fi or Bluetooth causes the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth chip to overheat and the chip would not function until it has cooled down. The iPhone 4S seems to be radiating more heat than normal during this time.

One forum user said his grey iPhone 4S button turns back to green after he placed his iPhone 4S inside the fridge for 15 minutes. However, this is not a practical solution since it does not solve the problem from its root. You can’t be running to your fridge every time your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth chip overheats, can you?

The chips heat so much that some users had reported that their iPhone 4S Wi-Fi or Bluetooth chip fried. Thus, they could never use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth until they replaced the broken chip. This problem was experienced with iOS 6 too for some users. But the difference was, back when iOS 6 was released, the iPhone 4S was still under warranty. Currently, most of the iPhone 4S units out there are not covered by warranty anymore.

What is making iPhone 4S users even more frustrated is the fact that Apple have not given any feedback regarding the issue. Feeling that they were not responsible for the damaged caused by the iOS 7 on their iPhone 4S, the angered iPhone 4S owners have been putting up some petitions across the web.

If you are currently using an iPhone 4S and have the iOS 7 update, you might want to avoid using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for too long if you encounter the gray out issue frequently. At least until Apple has released a fix for this matter. iOS 7.1 anyone?
