Out of all the mid-sized tablets currently available to you, there are two that we have mostly got our eye on. These are the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and the iPad Mini.
The iPad Mini is thin and light and has a body made out of aluminium and glass. The screen is surrounded with a small bezel yet the device has a very solid feel to it. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 however, has finishes made out of white fake metal which make the device feel incredibly plastic.
The iPad Mini comes with a display of 7.9 inches and has 1024 x 768 resolution while the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has a display of 8 inches and just like all other Galaxy Note devices is comes with the S Pen. The tablets bost display superb vibrant colours and contrast.
When it comes to the cameras, the iPad Mini has a 5 megapixel camera on the back of the device and a 1.2 megapixel one on the front. The Samsung Galaxy 8.0 also has a 5 megapixel camera on the back, however the one on the front is 1.3 megapixels. As far as battery capacity is concerned, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has less 490mAh when compared up against the battery of the iPad Mini. This difference in capacity does not make any difference to the battery life though as the devices both provide you with roughly 11 hours of use.
The iPad Mini is filled with Appleās dual core A5 chip together with 512 RAM. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 however comes with the 1.6 GHz quad core Exynos chip and has 2GB RAM. When it comes to multi-tasking then the Sasung Galaxy 8.0 has a slight advantage thanks to its quick and smooth processor.
The iPad Mini together with the recent upgrade to iOS 7 is just outstanding. The new iOS 7 is incredibly well optimized on the iPad Mini. The update gives users superb Apple TV which allows AirPlay that lets you connect your iPad to a HDTV with wireless. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is run on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The operating syste is brilliant for multi-tasking and has support for Chrome, Maps, Gmail, MXPlayer, YouTube and also other Samsung apps.
The iPad Mini will set you back $330 while the cost of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is just slighly lower at $300.
