Anyone looking for a tablet now will probably be weighing up the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the iPad Mini 2. Two brilliant devices, but which is the best here?
Both devices have an 8MP rear camera, with the Note 8 sporting a 1.3MP front camera, just ahead of the iPad Mini 2’s 1.2 frontie. Battery life is around the same – 11 hours or so, even though the Note 8 has the bigger battery.
The iPad Mini 2 has a dual-core A5 chip with 512MB, but this is blown away by the 1.8GHz Exynos chip and 2GB of RAM in the Note 8. The Note 8 rules when it comes to multi-tasking, especially as it has Jelly Bean 4.1.3. The iPad Mini 2 has iOS 7, which is nothing to gripe about, though.
The two tablets cost roughly the same – $330 for the iPad Mini 2 and $300 for the Note 8. With this close match in price, many a purchase will be decided by OS and hardware.
