The Apple iPad Air 2 has already been launched and it is more powerful and productive than its predecessors. On the other hand, the same can be said for the all-new Nexus 9, which has already been released. Between the two, which is better?
Specs-wise, there is no doubt that the Google Nexus 9 is miles ahead of the iPad Air 2. The tablet, built by HTC, runs on the brand new Nvidia Tegra K1 processor that makes the device comparable to a computer. Furthermore, the fact that HTC built the Nexus 9 means that the device is beautiful and high in quality.
While it all sounds great for the Nexus 9, there are a couple of setbacks with the device. For starters, the tablet tends to heat up when running heavy applications like games. Since tablets do not come with a ventilation fan, they normally isolate the heat at one corner of the device. Sadly to say, the Nexus 9’s heat is on the top of the screen. Furthermore, it can get superhot which makes it more impossible to play games horizontally without hurting the hand,
The second major flaw with the Nexus 9 is the Android apps. Since the Nexus 9 runs on the new K1 processor, it has different specifications than most tablets out there. The disadvantage to this is that the Android apps are not tuned for the particular processor but instead, for the general market. It simply results in poor scaling of the app or a graphically lacklustre appearance.
This is something where the iPad Air 2 excels. Thanks to Apple’s fixed specification and exclusive platform, the apps integrate like LEGO blocks. It simply performs well on the iPad Air 2. So even if consumers have alien technology, it won’t do well if the programs are not tuned for it.
With that being said, we have no regrets in naming the iPad Air 2 the winner for now. We say it this way since there is a possibility that Google might do something about the issues with the Nexus 9 above. If a solution is applied, there is no doubt that the Nexus 9 will reign supreme in this contest.
