There is no denying the fact that Apple’s iPhone is the most sought after device from criminals. Statistic has proven yet again that iPhones are the most stolen handset among all. That explains why Apple prioritizes the device’s security above everything else.
This isn’t the case with the latest iOS 7. Aside from the many other flaws, there appears to be a trick for criminals to exploit to prevent the stolen iPhone from being recovered. Whenever an iPhone went missing, the Find My iPhone feature is utilized to recover the stolen device. However, it won’t do much good if such a feature is removable in a matter of minutes.
All the thief has to do is tap on the toggle next to Find My iPhone and the Delete Account button in iCloud settings at the same time. Once done, the thief can power off the device before turning it back on. Upon booting, the thief is able to remove the iPhone’s iCloud account without needing the password.
As such, it is important for the users to have pin codes and pattern lock screens. Heck, even the TouchID should be fully utilized. This is a major flaw that is not meant to be overlooked.
Apple is guilty on this one but if all the security measures are practiced at the user’s end, then it shouldn’t be much of a problem at all.
