Artist X-Tomi created the newest Volkswagen Passat rendering. He allowed us to have an insight into what it would look like if the Volkwagen Passat was to be given a Golf GTI design. Aside from the MQB platform, the Golf GTI and the Passat do have a number of interior features in common as well as the DSG gearbox and six speen manual transmission.
We believe that Volkwagon aren’t keen to produce a Passat GTI due to them having their target group focused on businessmen who tend to be too busy to fully appreciate the hand-brake turns. It is most likely that the Passat GTI will be another project which ends up on the failure pile togetehr with the Ford Mondeo ST and the Mazda 6 MPS.
Despite all this, the rendering itself remains superb together with its GTI alloys and the red accents on the front of the vehicle.
The Passat GTI may never be developed, however the Passat alone is also a fast vehicle and comes with a 2.0 liter twin turbo diesel engine underneath the bonnet.
In several months time Volkswagen are expected to reveal a engine which is more powerful than the 2.0 TSI.
