The Toyota Prius was one of the pioneers when it comes to hybrid model but just because they were here first does not mean that they are the best at it as presented by Hyundai.
The new Hyundai Ioniq will be coming in as a hybrid model although Hyundai will also offer two other model options. The all-electric version and the plug-in Hybrid version. Toyota might have something for the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid but they won’t have anything to go up against the all-electric model.
Not only that but their standard Prius can’t even keep up with the Ioniq in terms of fuel economy. It was reported that the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid will be able to offer about 58mp while the Prius Eco will offer about 56mpg.
A lot of consumers also think that Hyundai did a better job with the design. The consumers were not too happy when Toyota took the covers off the current Toyota Prius model with many of them calling it ugly. It also helps that the Ioniq manage to earn itself the highest safety rating from NHTSA and IIHS.
