Owners of the HTC One are able to get the update to KitKat 4.4.2 which is said to bring with it security enhancements, cloud printing and much more. But what are the camera and its purple hue? Owners want to know if this has been fixed too.
Owners of the HTC One and Mini who are in Canada are able to get the update with Bell, Telus, Rogers, Virgin, Wind and SaskTel. All of these carriers are at the moment working on the firmware and will be rolling it out soon to the devices.
Over in the US the HTC One is said to get the KitKat 4.4.2 update OTA with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. The international HTC One Sense variation is getting updated in Europe and this all but confirms the release in the US.
HTC One X owners will be getting a final firmware update to Jelly Bean 4.2.2. This news came around after an HTC executive gave confirmation of approval of the update for AT&T. It is thought that the update will be pushed out within the timeframe of the HTC One 4.2.2 update.
While some features may depend on the carrier, there are some standards to expect with the update to KitKat 4.2.2 from HTC. These include Sense 5.5, security enhancements, cloud printing, new Bluetooth profiles, flash support removed, updates to BlinkFeed and UI changes.
One of the issues owners have been faced with is the purple, blue or red hues seen on the camera app. It has been said that photos have tints of purple or red when taking photos in low light.
Jelly Bean 4.3 was issued as a way of fixing this but the owners of the handset have said that the issue is still affecting them. LlabTooFer Tweeted and posted an image of the change log of Android 4.2.2 and there was nothing said by HTC about the purple hue issue.
Android and Me said that one owner had asked if this would be resolved with KitKat 4.4.2, but another user said that the issue wasn’t related to software. They said that it was a hardware issue and the camera module needed replacing free of charge at an HTC service centre.
Owners can also adjust the saturation and contrast directly on the camera app to help remove the purple hue.
