Valve revealed three pieces of news last week about PC gaming said Geek. We heard about Steam OS, Steam machines and the Steam controllers, much to the happiness of fans. However it was the unofficial news that caused some of the most excitement.
Geek pointed out that Valve had gone ahead and trademarked Half Life 3. Of course Half Life 3 is a game that many fans have been waiting many years for, ever since they finished Half Life 2. But bear in mind that a trademark doesn’t mean much, but thanks to a leak that was said to have come from inside Valve, Half Life 3 is in development.
Valve has used a User Picker internally. This is used for tracking bugs and project management and is used to split workers into teams. This is not seen by the public usually, but someone managed to get their eyes on it and it showed that Valve have two teams working on Half Life 3.
The first team was said to be Half Life 3 core and this team have 10 people working on it. There is also Half Life core and this is said to have as many as 46 people on the team. Geek said that the core team should be behind ensuring that the game is running well and they will be finalising it. An interesting thing though is that Adam Foster happens to be working on both teams and he was behind the Minerva mod on Half Life 2. It was said that most of the team might be concentrating on content creation.
At the moment we have no idea as to how far along they have gotten with the project; however Geek did say that a team with just 46 on it is small. It could be that Valve is taking it slow or it could be that the game hasn’t gone into full production just yet. If this is the case then don’t expect to see Half Life 3 anytime soon.
