The entire Half Life community were clearly moved by the way Portal 2 got announced by Valve. For those that has no knowledge on the matter, Portal 2 was announced after a conspiracy theory went viral on the sequel.
The conspiracy theory, in detail, revealed on an Easter egg found in an ARG title from Valve and the person who discovered it knows instantly that it is going to be about Portal 2. The viral theory then caused Valve to announce on Portal 2.
This explains why there are so many conspiracy theories surrounding Half Life 3 being spammed on gaming forums. Apparently, Half Life fans are hoping to get a theory right so they can see Half Life 3 getting confirmed by Valve.
While it may sound ridiculous, the Half Life community has got nothing to lose in their hopes to play Half Life 3. After all, the fans have anxiously waited more than a decade for Valve to announce on Half Life 3.
