Valve gave us some titbits of news just last week when they talked to Geek.com about where the future of PC gaming was heading. They talked about the Steam OS, Steam machines and the Steam Controllers. Of course fans were happy to hear from the developer. But it’s not the news that’s official that has sparked as much attention as the news that hasn’t been made official.
Geek said that they knew that Valve had trademarked Half Life 3. Half Life 3 is the game that everyone wants and fans have been waiting years for it since completing Half Life 2. On the other hand a trademark doesn’t mean that much, but as they did hear about a leak internally, Half Life 3 is under development.
Valve is using what is known as a User Picker internally. This means that it tracks bugs and the project management is split up into teams. This is something that the public usually don’t see, but a source managed to get hold of it and it reveals that there are two teams at work on Half Life 3.
The first of these two teams is Half Life 3 core and it consists of 10 people working on it. The second has 46 people working on it. This according to Geek is the core team and they will be ensuring that the game is running and finalising gameplay of it and the story line. It also came to light that Adam Foster is on both of these teams; it was Adam who produced Half Life 2 Minerva mod. It is thought that the majority of the team are working on content creation duty.
At the moment there is no indication to how far the project is along. However Geek said a team of just 47 is on the small side. Valve could be taking their time of course with a small team and it could indicate that full production of the game is not yet underway. If this is the case then we could have to wait for much longer before seeing the game. Come on Valve we want to get our hands on Half Life 3 so crank up production of it.
