Fans of the Half Life series have waited for Half Life 3 for more than a decade and fans said that they have been kept waiting for so long due to the development of Source 2 gaming engine.
The Source 2 development is still waiting for completion and gamers firmly believe that Half Life 3 will not come out until the engine has been developed. Source 2 is of course compulsory as Valve are going to want to offer gamers the best experience possible with the latest Half Life game.
Today gaming hardware is HD ready and has been beefed up and this means that Half Life 3 is going to have to meet demands. The game is going to make use of a new game engine otherwise the graphics will look outdated and there will be limited content.
Valve hasn’t been that enthusiastic about the production of Half Life 3 as otherwise Source 2 would be completed. Of course Valve could be focusing on bringing out B grade games along with managing Steam instead of putting all their attention onto Source 2.
Right now Source 2 is still waiting to be completed and the status of it remains unsure. When it is available only then will they begin work on Half Life 3.
