Just recently, we heard Rockstar teasing on much future IPs getting released for the next gen consoles. This does not mean that the idea of GTA 5 coming to the Xbox One and PS4 is dead just yet.
Take Two Interactive has come out to reveal that Rockstar is working on a game for the next-gen consoles. Of course, this could mean any games but the hints are pointing to GTA 5.
If it is a new title, Rockstar will have to announce it at least a year before its release. That has always been their way of doing things. This unknown title is expected to come on March 31st, 2015 and announcing a new IP now will be too late.
As such GTA 5 for both the Xbox One and PS4 seems like the best candidate. On top of that, Rockstar’s VP Dan Houser once revealed that the game developer is considering doing a next-gen release for GTA 5.
Then there is the business point-of-view. The recently released Watch Dogs has the prospect of beating GTA entirely. Rockstar can isolate Ubisoft’s jewel by going next-gen with GTA 5.
All in all, the idea of GTA 5 on the Xbox One and PS4 is certainly exciting. On the other hand, waiting one year for it sounds unrealistic. As such, we await for more reveals from Take Two and Rockstar.
