GTA 5 has finally arrived on the PC and it has created a global phenomenon yet again with desktop and laptop gamers flocking every gaming store to purchase a copy of the game.
For me, the PC version of GTA 5 appears to be the last missing puzzle that can explain the game’s release pattern. In case you are unaware, GTA 5 was first released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2013, just a month before the arrival of both the Xbox One and PS4.
Many questioned Rockstar on why they didn’t launch it simultaneously with the new-gen consoles? Well, the answer is simply business. When GTA 5 made its debut on the older-gen consoles, it automatically became a hot seller, topping every chart worldwide. Heck, GTA 5 was even named the 2013 game of the year.
Then, Rockstar chose to wait a year before launching GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4. The timing is perfect since many gamers have already upgraded to the new gaming machines. The arrival of GTA 5 on the latest consoles placed them back at the top of the charts for the second year in a row.
For two years PC gamers waited for their copy and Rockstar hold the release on purpose. This is so that they can achieve a third consecutive successful year with GTA 5. After all, the game developer could have launched GTA 5 for the PC since day one.
Of course, this is just my mere analysis on the matter. I am no expert but I find this very shrewd of Rockstar. Then again, the wait was pretty much painful for the PC folks.
