Qualcomm may be behind the CPU of the Nexus 6 and this could be in the shape of the Snapdragon 810. If so, this would be in competition with the 64 bit processor that Apple showed off in the Apple iPhone 5S.
The Snapdragon 810 will have eight cores, while the A7 chip of the Apple iPhone 5S doesn’t. This is by way of four ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs and four Cortex A53 CPUs. This will be watched over by the ARM big.LITTLE config, which means scalable tweaks so the performance of the device can be fine-tuned.
The Google Nexus 6 could have the Adreno GPU and if so this would mean it would be stretched more than the display of the Nexus 5 and its 4.9 inch display. But we have heard that it may have the 1080p display which was on the Nexus 5 when that arrived last year.
The latest processor to come from Snapdragon is thought to mirror what the Snapdragon 800 offered, apart from the speed and the brawn by way of the GPU and CPU. The 800 also happens to be the power in the Nexus 5.
We did hear rumours that the Nexus 6 could have the Snapdragon 805, with Qualcomm getting ready to release it in May. The 810 however is ready to be mass produced and distribution should start during Q3 of 2014, so Google may go for the latest SoC processor.
We did hear that Google could consider July for rollout of the handset, which is thought to be coming out at the I/O Developers Conference held on 14 June. This should also be where they launch the Nexus smartwatch.
It is thought that Google will stick with the existing calendar release when launching their next Nexus handset, which would put it somewhere between September and November this year.
Another thing Google has to think about is which manufacturer to go for, for the production of the Nexus 6. At the moment many people agree that it will be either LG or Lenovo-Motorola. LG do have an excellent track record and have worked with Google before on the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5.
Lenovo and Motorola could be in with a chance due to the $3 billion dollar deal that link them with Google. So if Google decide they want to keep the Nexus in house they could choose Motorola.
There is no doubt that Nexus fans will be glued to the net waiting to hear about the release of the Nexus 6 and of course they will be hoping that it will arrive with specs that are powerful and it will have killer features.
