It seems that the Motorola X8 processor is not the only one that is always listening. Qualcomm have chosen to make a similar core in their Snapdragon 800 and they haven’t been afraid to show off the fact that it is always listening. Recently we haven’t heard anything about the core, so it could be that Qualcomm haven’t given permission to manufacture it or perhaps no one is interested in it.
As you might have expected the core has been getting interest from the developer community and one developer who goes by the name of Guillaume Lesniak has worked out how to enable it and then gone ahead and used it to wake the Nexus 5 without having to use the main processor. To do this he just says Hey Snapdragon.
He said that he doesn’t plan on releasing the modification though. He said that he doesn’t plan on releasing it for many reasons. One of these is the fact that it is not stable. At the moment its nothing more than proof of the concept, but it is awesome.
