Some things from the past shouldn’t be meddled with. The same applies for the film Ghostbusters 3, which is currently in development. To make matters even worse, the director has pulled out of the project and Sony Pictures is looking for a replacement.
The last Ghostbusters film was released in 1989 and this upcoming third sequel will start shooting next year. The lengthy delay was due to many problems that arise with the production. The biggest is with Bill Murray who won’t read the script.
The whole project looks like collapsing when Harold Ramis passed away at the age of 69. He might be the actor in the original movie but he was also the writer for the movie series. The passing of Harold has led Murray to pull out as well.
At the moment, there is no clue to when Ghostbusters 3 will be released. This upcoming film will be kept to the minimal and with shooting commencing in 2015; the earliest possible release would be on 2016. Will Sony pictures make it, or break it?
