This may appear to be an odd question to ask, but if you were aware of how many people wouldn’t know about this if it wasn’t asked or spoken about then you would understand. We came across a Reddit post asking if it was ok to shift gears on the Volkswagen Jetta whilst mid drive.
The driver asked in particular if you were able to shift gear without having to set on the break modan when moving. The answer to this question is yes. It’s not hard to understand why people might expect it to be bad due to the gears running and believe thatshifting it mid drive to cause harm to it.
The auto transmission gear shift is more of a software change though, allowing you to change the way the software behaves mid drive without worrying about damaging the auto transmission.
