Ford have decided that Microsoft’s time has come to an end and that from noy on they will be relying on Blackberry to produce its Sync 3. More exactly, Sync 3 will now be run by the Blackberry QNX. This isn’t the complete end for Microsoft as they will still be used for updates for Sync 3.
Future updates will be created by Blackberry, however they will be done at Microsoft’s Azure Cloud servers before being sent over to the Sync 3 system. It was also thanks to Microsoft that Sync 3 has been able to make use of Wi-Fi connectivity.
At the moment Sync 3 is in the final stages of production and is set to be released next year. The MyFord Touch system will be fully replaced by the new infotainment system and its debut will be made on the 2016 Lincoln and Ford cars.
