Ford have come to the decision that Microsoft have run out of time as they now rely on Blackberry to create its Sync 3. To be more specific, the Blackberry QNX will now be used to run Sync 3. It’s not all over for Microsoft though and they will still be used for Sync 3’s updates.
Blackberry will be the ones developing future updates, although they will be held over at Microsoft’s Azure Cloud servers and then be transmitted over to the Sync 3 system. Microsoft were also the ones to enable the Sync 3 to enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity.
Sync 3 is currently in its last stages of being developed and is due to come out next year. The new infotainment system will completely replace the MyFford Touch system and will make its debut on the 2016 Lincoln and Ford vehicles.
