Ford have made the decision that Microsoft have run out of time and that they will now rely on Blackberry to create its Sync 3. Tto b more specific – the Blackberry QNX will be used to run Sync 3 from now on. Microsoft will still be used for Sync 3’s update though so it is not all over for them.
Although Blackberry will be making the future updates, they will be held at Microsoft’s Azure Cloud servers and then be put accross to the Sync 3 system. It was also Microsoft that gave Sync 3 the ability to have WiFi-connectivity.
Sync 3 is currently already in its last stages of being developed and is believed to be coming out in 2016. The debut of the new infotainment system will take place on the 2016 Lincoln and Ford vehicles and will completely replace the MyFord Touch system.
