It took Flappy Bird almost a year to take off and just when it became the trending mobile gaming application worldwide, the game developer pulled the plug. The game developer, Dong Nguyen, revealed that he cannot handle the stress anymore and decided to kill the game.
Amidst the mystery behind his statement, the Vietnamese revealed that Flappy Bird is not yet a complete game. This hints that a sequel to Flappy Bird might be in the making. With all the thrill and rumours surrounding Dong Nguyen, the lad has certainly scored the best marketing strategy. This is if the sequel were to happen.
This marketing strategy is famously practiced by Disney where they make things limited, forcing the consumers to make a purchase instantaneously.
It is impossible to neglect the ad revenue which pays $50,000 per day. Even when playing the pirated version, the ad is still active.
The future Flappy Bird 2 will be kept as a mini game instead of going bigger. Nguyen felt that it will be best for the game. On top of that, Nguyen revealed that he was shocked when seeing the popularity of Flappy Bird rising in a matter of days.
