There has yet to be a bad game that involves moral elements. Bethesda’s Fallout series is no different as it offered an extra edge with players being put in a psychological stress in making the right decision.
Then again, Fallout is an RPG title and some players prefer to make their character an evil one. Of course, the community strongly agreed that being a one-dimensional bad guy makes the game boring.
On the other hand, the latest discussion on things that can be improved on in Fallout 4 is bringing up this gameplay element.
It seems that there are some flaws with the negative decisions offered by the Fallout series. Fans are pointing out that the evil is just too despicable to perform which somehow forces the players to be good.
Bethesda needs to add in more depth to the evil options as majority of the players refuse to be bad to the extreme and at the same time, too righteous.
One way to put it is with the options prompted when players found a lost kid. The current situation will be like: (a) return the kid to the parents and claim reward or (b) sell the kid away for a reward of the same amount. There wrong is just too wrong too select. Perhaps, there should be more options like returning the kid but extorting for more reward and such.
All in all, the question raised certainly created a lot of buzz within the Fallout community and most of them agreed that it can be improved on. There are other games like Mass Effect and Star Wars KOTOR for Bethesda to look up too as they are great when it comes to offering choices
