There is a lot of wonder on whether Bethesda is producing Fallout 4 right now. While the status of the game remains a mystery, it didn’t stop the fans from discussing on everything that is related to Fallout 4.
The latest discussion involves the game’s technical specifications. The Fallout series, as we know it, is developed closely with the Elder Scrolls series. The previous Fallout 3 utilized the same game engine as Oblivion. With that being said, will Fallout 4 run on the same engine that was used by Skyrim?
While nothing has been confirmed yet, we believe that the answer is yes. On the other hand, it won’t exactly be the same engine as the one used by Skyrim. Bethesda will surely tweak the engine to further maximize its potential.
There will be a downside to this as Fallout 4 will undoubtedly be the first title from the franchise to debut on both the Xbox One and PS4. Both gaming consoles have enhanced the technical aspects of gaming. As such, we don’t expect any bombastic graphics with Fallout 4.
Another reason to support this is with Bethesda being a corporation. As a corporate identity, it is a priority to bag profits first. Yes, this does sound evil but it is the company’s best interest. So, this means that Fallout 4 will still be released on the older Xbox 360 and PS3. Thus, using Skyrim’s game engine makes it compatible across all platforms.
If Fallout 4 is not made for the older consoles, then we may see Bethesda producing a new game engine for the upcoming title. The downside to that is the length of time to develop it.
