If Fallout 4 gets produced, it is going to be the first title from the entire Fallout franchise to debut on the Xbox One and PS4. This will also mean that Fallout 4 will graphically enhanced and be more immense than ever.
Then again, it is best not to get your hopes up for Fallout 4 just yet. After carefully analysing Fallout 3, it runs on the game engine that was used by the much older title, Oblivion. Of course, the engine was improved on to make Fallout 3 possible.
This leaves us fearing that Fallout 4 will use Skyrim’s game engine. While there is no wrong in doing so, the system will not bring out the best out of both the Xbox One and PS4. The possibility of Fallout 4 to run on a brand new game engine is unlikely as that will require years of development which we believe that both Bethesda and the fans wouldn’t want.
On the other hand, the idea for Bethesda to utilize Skyrim’s game engine makes more sense and cents for game developer. After all, the system will surely be compatible on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4, thus, not limiting Fallout 4 for just the next-gen consoles. This way, Bethesda can look forward to bag more profits from the title.
With that being said, it is safe to assume that Fallout 4 won’t be at its full potential when released on the next-gen consoles. Our guess is that fans will have to wait for Fallout 5 to enjoy a truly enhanced post-apocalyptic world.
