Anyone waiting patiently to hear about Fallout 4 this June at the E3 could be in for heartache as it is looking like Bethesda are not going to talk about the sequel. Pete Hines, the marketing executive of Bethesda is fed up of people asking about the game. He said through Twitter that they are not about to reveal a major game or information about one for some time. However the good news is that he didn’t actually deny that Fallout 4 was under development. This was something that some industry insiders have been saying.
When he was asked about what “long time” meant, he said “We simply wanted people to know not to expect any kind of announcement any time soon. I don’t know for certain when it would be.” This does lead us to believe that Fallout 4 could be under development. We also heard rumours going around that the game could be set in Boston. But it does look as though we are not going to have clarification of this at the E3.
The lead designer of Fallout: New Vegas, Josh Sawyer, was talking recently and he said that gamers should get ready for making choices and decisions that would have impact, in Fallout 4. He said ”Fallout games are best when the choices are – and this applies to role-playing games in general, but Fallout is a more desperate world – more agonizing.” He continued by stating that “They feel more appropriate to the post-apocalyptic genre. So I hope that whatever twists and turns the story takes, it’s more nuanced than a black-and-white choice.”
At the same time he highlighted the fact that gamers of Fallout want the game to challenge them, but that some players do live to take a casual stroll in the post-apocalyptic landscape. However the majority of gamers do want a game that is unforgiving and harsh and he went on to say that this is what you could expect from Fallout 4. But it is looking as though people are going to have to be patient as Bethesda does like to take their own sweet time with things.
