Come next year, Google will start on a bigger project and that is the Android Silver Program. With more and more rumours covering the latter, there are growing doubts that the Nexus 6 might just not make it into production.
The latest word came from Evleaks’ Evan Blass, who Tweeted that the Android Silver is the sole reason why the Nexus 6 will not come. This came after the same person Tweeted that the Nexus 6 has been cancelled from production. Just hours ago, Evan sent out a final Tweet which revealed that the Android Silver will be launched in February next year.
Unless you’ve heard, the Android Silver Program is basically a new direction where Google takes in every Android-operated smartphone and creates Google Play Edition out of them.
If this is to happen, then it is a sad parting for the Nexus lovers. For years now, the Nexus moniker has given consumers a cheaper yet powerful smartphone and it is unfortunate that it didn’t get ended with a bang.
Then again, this is still unproven as Google has yet to announce anything official on the matter. If there is one thing the Nexus line of smartphones deserves, it is a fairy-tale ending.
