Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the Evasi0n iOS 7 jailbreak. Some tech pages thought that the iPad 5 or the iPad Mini 2 (or both) would debut at the press event, with Evad3r@PlanetBeing giving hints about why the next iPad release is so important to devs:
“Even if we manage to make everything work, the time for a release must be chosen carefully,” Evad3r@pimskeks tweeted on October 4, as part of the Evasi0n team’s account of the progress on lining its ducks in a row for the iOS 7 jailbreak.
@pod2g told IDT.com that iOS hackers “…usually think about that when we have something ready.”
“It’s too early to worry about actual release date issues yet since we have no idea what kind of implementation challenges we might run into that might significantly skew the schedule,” said @planetbeing to IDT.
He thinks it’s amusing that there’s no right or wrong approach to releasing updates about the iOS 7 jailbreak:
“(For a while), people assumed there was never going to be a jailbreak and all the hackers were lying in a pile defeated somewhere. Now I’ve said something positive, and people are assuming it’ll be out in a few days.”
So, now we know why @pimskeks made it as clear as he did that the jailbreak was a while off still. @pod2g was just as blunt: “Don’t expect a jailbreak next week people.”
He said he’d just bought an iPhone 5S, but didn’t reveal whether he was using it to test out the jailbreak.
It will, however, be most problematic to test the JB on an iPad Mini 2 or an iPad 5, and of course the jailbreak will need to be tried out on all iOS 7 devices.
@pod2g and @pimskeks went to a hackers’ conference, and it’s thought they’ve got back together with @musclenerd and @planetbeing.
So, fans waited for the jailbreak to come out on October 23 and it didn’t happen – still, @planetbeing said it was “possible to release a jailbreak eventually.”
