iOS 7.1 from Apple is the latest version of the OS but a hacker by the name of Winocm has already managed to offer an untethered version of the jailbreak for it. He posted a YouTube video which shows the Apple iPhone 4 running on iOS 7.1 and it has been jailbroken.
So there is no reason why we cannot assume that the jailbreak will run on the 4th gen iPod along with the 1st gen iPad, this is down to the fact that they all have the same processor. The latest versions of Apple devices have newer processors, with plenty of extra security.
When Apple launched the iPhone 5S along with the iPhone 5C, they battered they jailbreaking community as the devices proved difficult to jailbreak. However if there is anyone who can jailbreak them then it surely must be the Evad3rs. They were the team behind the jailbreak for the iPhone 5S and 5C on iOS 7.
The Evad3rs have not said anything about a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 and at the moment this is all down to Winocm.
It has been said that the Evad3rs have been working secretly on a jailbreak for iOS 7.1, however some people have said that they are looking at waiting for Apple to launch iOS 8.
iOS 7.1 Untethered Jailbreak Status: Winocm And iH8Sn0w Post Updates
We have seen many tweaks courtesy of Cydia and these can make iOS 7 run like iOS 7.1. But despite this there are some people who want hackers to launch a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.
The latest iOS 7.1 from Apple fixed many of the loopholes that the Evad3rs had exploited and it came with enhancements to security. This has been something that the jailbreakers have not been able to beat up to now. The Evad3rs said that they are concentrating on iOS 8 and waiting for Apple to launch it.
At the moment if you want to keep the jailbreak on your handset you may not want to make the update to iOS 7.1.
Winocom meanwhile showed off an iPhone 4 which is running iOS 7.1 and he has jailbroken it. iH8sn0w is working on the iPhone 4S.
So there has been some progress made with these two hackers and it is possible that we could see a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 in the future. Perhaps someday we may see the term “jailbreaking” added into the Oxford dictionary in much the same way as “Twerking” was recently added?
