Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono rushed to his twitter and quickly denied the rumors that were announced by the Japanese media which said that the next, still unannounced, Street Fighter game, will be a pay-to-win game.
RT @Yoshi_OnoChin: The SFV news today about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn’t something we’re planning for.

Sorry for the confusion! We’re still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date.

This news hints that a new Street Fighter game is in the works but still “in early planning stages”. Street Fighter fans can go have a long break as the next Street Fighter game is not expected till 2018, Capcom producer Tomoaki Ayano said in a VG247 interview in August 2013. He also referenced the long time taken between releasing each Street Fighter game in the franchise.
“Game development is a long and arduous process. If you look at the history of the series, it took six years to go from Street Fighter II to Street Fighter III, and nine years to go from Street Fighter III to Street Fighter IV,” he said
The last Street Fighter game, Street Fighter IV, was released in 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
