Most games today can be played for free with the aid of emulator. There are tons of great emulators out there like Visual Boy Advance which mimics the Game Boy Advance and now, there is the Dolphin Emulator which is currently the best platform for the Wii U.
Unlike VBA, Dolphin Emu is so sophisticated that gamers can toggle from many settings option. Dolphin Emu also boost the ROM output and turn it into a HD title. This was tested and proven with Super Mario Sunshine, which manage to run on 60fps on the Dolphin Emu without increasing the speed of the game. The Gamecube title from 2002 was initially running on 30fps.
For Dolphin gamers to achieve this, they will have to tweak three different settings. Firstly, they will need to turn on the Vbeam speedhack. Then, a patch for the game is needed to make it run at a stable rate of 30fps. Finally, gamers will need to modify the audio timings to half speed. This will ensure that the sound won’t be distorted when at 60fps.
Once all of the above is applied correctly, Super Mario Sunshine will run in 60fps. It will look better and sound better at the same time. It is unsure if the process works on other gaming titles but it is not tough to give it a shot.
