Bungie has made a decision to extend the Destiny Alpha for all of the players currently testing the game.
In a tweet earlier this morning Bungie stated, “Yup. Alpha still works.” This comes as a great surprise to fans who have been having an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the game. Bungie went on to say, “Now, we’re gonna test it in expert mode. If you’re still playing, pardon our dust. This is for the beta!”
The Destiny Alpha was only slated to run from Thursday, June 12th to Sunday June 15th, so this is a great promotional move by Bungie to keep interest going in their expansive new title. There is no information yet on when the Alpha will officially close, however any time added now is icing on the cake for those currently playing Destiny.
The official Beta is set to release simultaneously on Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 on July 17th, with the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions following a few days later. With the wide spread success of the Alpha, and rampant fan support in the game, Destiny is shaping up to be a great experience regardless of what system you will be playing it on.
