While no specifics were mentioned, many felt that the next COD instalment is a sequel for the Black Ops series. On the other hand, the Modern Warfare series is also in contention to get a fourth sequel.
This is due to Sledgehammer Games, which is still working together with Activision. The former was responsible for creating the highly successful Modern Warfare series. With Sledgehammer being on the same boat with Activision, there is a high possibility that Modern Warfare 4 is in the makings.
If so, then this is a major booster to both Activision and the huge COD fan base. After all, the franchise has been on a landslide with COD Ghosts as players grew tired of the repetitive nature of the game. If there is an entity that can bring the franchise back to glory, it is Sledgehammer Games.
As for COD Ghosts, it will definitely get a sequel in the future due to the storyline ending in a cliff-hanger.
