Despite many warnings from the team of hackers that produced iOS jailbreaks, there are always those handfuls of users who have itchy fingers which led to their device updating to Apple’s official iOS. This is a common incident and it successfully repeated itself with the recently released iOS 7.1.
Now, these jailbreak users are whining for a way to help them retrieve their jailbreak or they will be stuck on the iOS 7.1 until the hackers releases the next jailbreak.
Fortunately, the iOS 7.1 is actually downgradable. It appears that users can take a step back to iOS 7.0.4 by just using iTunes. All that is needed is the latest iTunes and the iOS firmware which is available on the internet.
To proceed with the downgrade, users can follow the guide below.
1 .Connect your device (iPhone 4,4S,5,5s,5c) to the computer and launch iTunes (latest version)
2. Boot the device into DFU mode by pressing the Power and Home button simultaneously for about 10seconds. After that, release the Power button only and iTunes will read that the phone is in recovery mode.
3. Hold the shift key on your keyboard and select restore on iTunes. (Alt/Option key for Mac).
4. Select the files downloaded earlier and the installation should commence and complete accordingly.
Many claims that it worked but when we tried it out, it turned out otherwise. Nevertheless, users are encouraged to give it a shot and share with us the outcome. More importantly, please highlight to us if there is another process found. Of course, this wouldn’t be an issue if jailbreak users didn’t accept the official update when prompted.
