Of course gamers of COD will not find this much of a surprise. COD is a multi-million dollar enterprise so Sledgehammer cannot ignore it if they wanted to. With eSports in mind Sledgehammer will be focusing on bringing a multiplayer experience that is high-level to fans and it is thought that the release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be in November.
Sledgehammer didn’t come out and say that this years COD game would be Modern Warfare 4, however just last month Drift0r did upload a video which did reveal insider information about COD MW4. The guy has made some other calls which have been related to Call of Duty in the past before being revealed to the public. This time around he said that a source had sent him an email with media files from what was said to be the alpha build of Modern Warfare 4.
“Somebody inside the CoD machine shared with me a variety of media files claiming to be from the next game,” Drift0r said. “The files I was sent do look legitimate and they are, at least, unique and not out there on the Internet anywhere else.”
Drift0r said that he had seen the new map for Modern Warfare 4 and that the game is set in a power station. This sound futuristic and he compared some tech on the map with the Oblivion movie. He said the Modern Warfare 4 will be set in the near future; this was due to the assault weapon which has a Titanfall look, along with a PDA that was seen on the wrist of a player.
So if Drift0r if giving it the title of Modern Warfare 4 then it’s almost 99.9 percent that it will be. Ghosts have been one of the worst games in the series and Battlefield 4 was filled with bugs when it came out. This means that fans looked forward to the release of Titanfall and Destiny, this year. The pressure is on Sledgehammer games and this could be why the cofounder said that Modern Warfare 4 would be the most ambitious and creative game to be made.
It is thought that Sledgehammer Studios will enjoy some competition when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 comes out in November. EA has been focused on Titanfall along with Star Wars: Battlefront and thanks to the many problems with Battlefield 4 it is not looking as though a new game will arrive this year. We could see competition via release of Halo 5, however if the current sales trends continue then the Xbox One isn’t going to be the dominant console. Sledgehammer has started to take a next gen first approach for Modern Warefare 4, so even if Halo 5 comes out in November there will be plenty of owners of the PS4 who want a good shooting game in time for the holidays.
So when it comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 it does look as though Sledgehammer games are doing everything right. They will want to make the most out of the next gen consoles, and they do have some big and bold ideas on changing up the formula of COD, which does seem to have gone stale. The company is also looking a release calendar that isn’t going to be too cluttered and if you add in the commitment that Modern Warfare 4, then fans of COD could end up with a game that they do deserve.
