We were expecting to see a recall from BMW after Takata made the announcement about automakers needing to repair about five million vehicles and now BMW have issued a recall listing out the models that will be affected by the Takata airbag recall.
Based on the recall issues, models that will be affected this time will include the 2008-2013 BMW 1 Series Coupe, Convertible and Sedan, 2009-2011 BMW 335d Sedan, 2006 – 2012 BMW 3 Series Sport Wagon, 2007 -2013 BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible, 2013 -2015 BMW X1, 2007 -2013BMW X3, 2007-2013 BMW X5, 2009 -2013 BMW X5 xDrive35d, 2008 – 2014 BMW X6, as well as the 2010-2011 BMW X6 Active Hybrid.
The affected models will come in to get the driver side airbag inflators replaced with a new airbag. No injuries or death caused by the airbags have been reported so far.
The recall will affect a total of 840,000 units of BMW units. Owners will be notified of the recall soon.
