The race for handset of the year this year is on and it is thought that it will be so much hotter than what it was last year. Very soon handsets on the shelves competing will include the HTC One M8, the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3 and the Sony Xperia Z2.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 along with the Sony Xperia Z2 was announced at the MWC and the HTC One M8 has just been revealed. The LG G3 came out in June, which is not far away. Fans will then have to choose which of the handsets they want to go with.
All of the handsets will have the same processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. One of the main differences that set them apart will be the clock speed. Another factor that will set them apart will be the RAM. The Samsung Galaxy S5 will arrive with 2GB of RAM, while the Z2 has just 1GB. The HTC One M8 along with the LG G3 should both have 3GB.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is going to have a display of 1920 x 1080p which should offer 432ppi, on a display that is 5.1 inches of Super AMOLED. The handset will run on a battery of 2800mAh with Super Power Saving. Another notable feature is an improved fingerprint scanner along with a heartbeat sensor.
The Sony Xperia Z2, the LG G3 and the HTC One will not offer features such as this. The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a camera of 16MP which has support for auto-focus at 0.3 seconds, which does make it the fastest around. The HTC One M8 has the Ultrapixel camera and this offers a high quality image. The Sony Xperia Z2 has a 20.7MP camera which can record video in 4K.
All devices will be very similar apart from the LG G3, which will offer the Odin octa-core processor or the Snapdragon 805. If it does come with the former then it would be very fast with four cores clocked at 2.2GHz with the balance of four at 1.7GHz.
It is thought that the handset will arrive with the QHD display of 2k, but we haven’t heard an official announcement just yet. We did hear that the LG G3 could include a retina display and fingerprint scanner.
This is the only information about the handset that we know. Anyone considering buying a new handset may want to hang on and wait for the arrival of the LG G3 before going ahead and buying.
